Name origin

From the Arabic word tihyat, said to be the singular form of al-tahayi, an ind-A name of unknown meaning and disputed identification. In some sources, the plural al-tahayi is assigned to η, μ, and v Gem. As originally applied in recent times, η was "Tejat Prior," and μ was Tejat Posterior.
